1st seminar of WorkAbility project
Promoting emloyment and entrepreneurship of people with disability

The first seminar of the WorkAbility project entitled “Promoting employment and entrepreneurship of people with disabilities” was implemented on Monday the 25th of April, at the Aristotle University Research Center (KEDEA, Conference Hall 1).
The seminar started at 14.00 with the welcome speeches of Professor Aristotelis Naniopoulos, Coordinator of the project, and Mr. Pavlos Kazantzidis, representative of the Professionals’ Chamber of Thessaloniki.
Professor Naniopoulos made an overall presentation of WorkAbility project.
Next, Dr. Panagiotis Tsalis presented the methodology for assessing accessibility of workplaces.
Mrs. Ourania Sarafoglou presented the legislation concerning employment of people with disability at national, European and international level.
Mrs. Georgia Fyka, Social Worker, M.A. Disability Studies and Dr. Prokopis Orfanos made a joint presentation on policies and practices concerning people with disability.
Mrs. Kiparissoula Sereti, Social Worker, presented the activities of the “Employment Office for Special Social Groups of Manpower Employment Organisation”
During the second session of the seminar, representatives from the Associations of people with disability expressed their views concerning employment of people with disability and presented some first results of the questionnaire survey that took place.
Then the participants asked some questions concerning the employment of people with disability. The speakers provided answers to the questions and made some general remarks.
Prof. Naniopoulos presented the main conclusions and the seminar ended successfully at 18.00.
